Suciwati to Meet British Parliamentarians to Discuss the Munir Case

Thursday, 11 November, 2010 | 13:07 WIB TEMPO Interactive, London: Suciwati, the wife of human right activist, Munir, who died of poisoning, is scheduled to meet with members of the British parliament in Westminster, London. This is part of the Action Committee for Munir Solidarity’s agenda in the UK. Before going to parliament, Suciwati also gave a public lecture titled "The Munir Memorial Lecture" in London, last Tuesday (November 9). The event was held by The College of Law, London, and was attended by over 100 law students.

Fighting not to Forget the Past

Peaceful “Thursday Actions” by the victims of past human rights violations have entered their 65th week. Not much has been achieved yet. THE sun was scorching as Maria Catarina Sumarsih opened a black umbrella across from the State Palace on Thursday last week. The mother of Bernardus Realino Norma Irmawan—who died during the 1998 Semanggi incident—along with 32 of her colleagues wore black shirts. There was no thundering of speeches as is usual at a demonstration. Their hopes were related through banners and umbrellas upon which were written a variety of demands calling for investigations in to past human rights violations.

New Efforts in the Munir Case

Police form a new team of investigators in the Munir case after the Supreme Court acquits Pollycarpus. A number of members of the Fact-Finding Team doubt that the new investigators will be able to advance the case absent any serious support from the President. What new facts are needed to shed new light on Munir’s mysterious death?

From Amsterdam to Tokyo

THE 400 Series Boeing 747 has been used by almost every airline in the world. Garuda Indonesia Airlines has three. However, this plane, manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes in the United States, and which was used on the Jakarta-Singapore-Amsterdam route, has the distinction of being the crime scene in the murder of human rights activist Munir.

Upaya Baru kasus Munir

Polisi membentuk tim penyidik baru kasus Munir setelah Mahkamah Agung membebaskan Pollycarpus. Sejumlah anggota Tim Pencari Fakta meragukan kinerja para penyidik baru tanpa dukungan serius Presiden. Fakta apa saja yang harus dikejar lagi untuk menemukan titik terang dalam misteri kematian Munir?

Dari Amsterdam ke Tokyo

Boeing 747 seri 400 sudah jamak dipakai maskapai penerbangan di mana pun. Garuda Indonesia punya tiga. Tapi, pesawat bikinan Boeing Commercial Airplanes Amerika Serikat, yang pernah melayani rute Jakarta-Singapura-Amsterdam, punya keistimewaan sendiri: menjadi saksi kasus pembunuhan aktivis HAM Munir.

Dark Clouds over the Munir Case

THE murder case of human rights activist Munir ended up obscure. Everything returns to zero. Months were spent on a probe into the ruthless murder of the 39-year-old human rights advocate by poisoning, but now the case is further engulfed in mystery. An appeal decision of the Supreme Court on Pollycarpus Budihari Priyanto, a Garuda pilot, was the cause. Polly was sentenced to 14 years in prison by a district court, which was sustained by the high court. Polly was found guilty of involvement in the premeditated murder of Munir on September 7, 2004, aboard a Garuda airliner flying the Jakarta-Singapore-Amsterdam route.

Dalang yang Makin Kabur

KASUS pembunuhan aktivis Munir kembali gelap.

Suciwati: “I will continue to demand for accountability

THE death of Munir Said Thalib has not quite been understood and accepted by 8-year-old Alif Allende and his 4-year-old sister, Diva Suukyi. One night, they both woke up and cried. “I miss Abah,” sobbed Alif. Abah is how siblings Alif and Diva refer to their father, the late Munir, who was killed by poisoning on September 7, 2004. The human rights activist died en route to the Netherlands on a Garuda Indonesia flight. Two years have gone by but Munir’s death remains shrouded in mystery. A number of names ended up as suspects but the real people behind this abominable deed are still free. This enfuriates Suciwati, 38, Munir’s widow, and is what keeps her campaign for the truth.

Suciwati: “Saya Akan Terus Menagih”

Kematian Munir Said Thalib belum bisa dimengerti Alif Allende, 8 tahun, dan Diva Suukyi, 4 tahun. Suatu hari kedua bocah itu terbangun tengah malam sambil menangis. “Saya kangen Abah,” kata Alif sambil terisak.
